AI regulation API and dataset for developers
A read-only JSON API and bulk exports covering 249 jurisdictions, 244 policy instruments and 117 obligations, each linked to its official source and carrying its review status. Free, no key, under CC BY 4.0, which allows commercial use with attribution.
How do I call the API?
Send a GET request; no key or sign-up is needed. Responses are JSON, paginated, and every record carries official_source_url, review_status and last_verified_at, so you can show your users how settled each fact is.
curl "https://aipolicytracker.org/api/v1/policies?jurisdiction=eu"
Limit: 120 requests a minute per address, no key needed. For webhook and delta feeds, see plans.
Which endpoints are there?
| Endpoint | Returns |
|---|---|
| /api/v1/jurisdictions | Jurisdictions, with their status summary and regulators |
| /api/v1/policies | Policy instruments: laws, regulations, strategies, guidance, with sources and review status |
| /api/v1/obligations | Duties broken out from the instruments, with the provision each comes from |
| /api/v1/deadlines | Application dates and deadlines, including those that moved |
| /api/v1/changes | The dated change log |
| /api/v1/controls | Controls that meet the duties, with the evidence they produce |
| /api/v1/frameworks | Framework mappings (ISO/IEC 42001, NIST AI RMF and others) |
| /api/v1/enforcement | Enforcement actions |
| /api/v1/implementation-measures | What an instrument still depends on: guidelines, codes, standards |
| /api/v1/incidents | AI incidents with the recorded laws that address the harm |
| /api/v1/templates | The templates library, with download links |
| /api/v1/taxonomies | The controlled vocabularies used across records |
Single records are at the same path with the slug (/api/v1/policies/eu-ai-act). The full contract, parameters included, is in the OpenAPI document.
Can I download everything at once?
Yes. The open data page serves the whole dataset as one JSON bundle, and each record type as CSV and NDJSON, with the JSON Schemas the records are validated against and citation guidance.
Can I use it in a commercial product?
Yes. The data is published under CC BY 4.0: use it, change it and sell products built on it, with attribution. Paid plans add service terms the licence does not, such as a freshness commitment and delta feeds.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an API for AI regulations?

Can I use the AI regulation data in a commercial product?
Yes. The data is published under CC BY 4.0, which allows commercial use with attribution. Paid plans add service terms such as a freshness commitment and delta feeds; they do not change what the licence already allows.
Is there a bulk download?
Yes: one JSON bundle of the whole dataset, and CSV and NDJSON exports per record type, each row carrying its official source, review status and the date it was last confirmed.
