Every policy, jurisdiction, obligation and change record is open under CC BY 4.0 on every plan, commercial use included, and always will be. Builder pays for alerts at volume. Team and Commercial pay for what the open licence does not give: no attribution, freshness in writing, and an agreement a legal team can file.

Commercial use of the records is already allowed on every plan under CC BY 4.0, with attribution. Write to us for a white-label licence without attribution, a freshness commitment in writing, a team plan or a jurisdiction we do not cover yet. Nothing is charged until a written agreement is signed.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use the data commercially?
Yes, on every plan, including Open. The records are published under CC BY 4.0: you may copy, adapt and build them into a product or service, paid or not, as long as you credit AIPolicyTracker and link the record. Mirrored third-party datasets (the AI Incident Database and the MIT AI Risk Repository) keep their own licences, which every export and API response states.
What stays free?
Every record and its sources, the weekly digest, every template, the applicability check, comparisons, the bulk exports, the read-only API with no key, the embeddable widgets, and up to three watches with a daily email. Money pays for the service around the data, never for the data. If a Builder plan ends, your watches and settings are kept; alerts continue for the first three.
What do the paid plans add?
Builder adds volume and delivery: up to 500 watches, alerts to Slack, a signed webhook or a private RSS feed, and saved applicability profiles. Team and Commercial are arranged by written agreement: invoice billing, a named contact, a freshness commitment in writing and, for Commercial, a licence that waives attribution for white-label use. Team accounts, a hosted MCP endpoint, a feed of every change, a verified-only feed and a white-label widget are not built yet and are marked as coming.
How do I get a commercial licence or an SLA?
Send the enquiry form on the pricing page: say what you will use the data for and which tier you are interested in. It is stored and sent to the maintainer, who replies by email, and nothing is charged until a written agreement is signed. You do not need a licence to use the data commercially under CC BY 4.0; you need one only to drop attribution or to have freshness commitments in writing.
Who takes the payment?
For Builder, Dodo Payments, acting as merchant of record: it handles cards, local payment methods, tax and invoices, and this site never stores card data. Team and Commercial are invoiced under the written agreement.
