What is National Artificial Intelligence Policy 2025?
Pakistan's first national AI policy, organised around six pillars: innovation ecosystem, awareness and readiness, secure AI, transformation of sectors, AI infrastructure, and international partnerships. It proposes a National AI Fund drawn from Ignite's R&D fund, centres of excellence, venture and innovation funds, regulatory sandboxes and KPIs, with an AI Council to oversee delivery. Targets include large-scale training of AI professionals and funded research projects.
Status note: Cabinet approval on 30 July 2025 is widely reported and the PID release of 14 August 2025 confirms approval, but no official notice stating the exact approval date was found. The older moitt.gov.pk/SiteImage/Misc PDF link returns 404; the /SiteImage/Policies path loads.
