California enacts the Transparency in Frontier Artificial Intelligence Act (SB 53)

The Governor signed SB 53, requiring large frontier developers to publish safety frameworks and transparency reports and to report critical safety incidents, operative 1 January 2026.

Italy publishes Law 132/2025, the first national AI law in the EU

Law No. 132 of 23 September 2025 was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force on 10 October 2025, designating AgID and ACN as national AI authorities, adding sector rules for health, work, professions, justice and public administration, an under-14 consent rule and a deepfake offence.

Practical impact: Organisations in Italy must combine EU AI Act compliance with the national sector rules and watch the delegated decrees due within twelve months.
